Doing what’s right…

I found this article through @emtgirl on twitter. Please take a moment to read it then come back.

The State of California EMS Authority must have mistaken EMS workers for garbage truck drivers again.

In response to my argument, the State’s attorney argued that her license should be revoked because “Paramedics are not there to determine what is or isn’t a life and death situation” And, much like your reaction, all eyes in the court drew wide open and all jaws dropped.

If we take away all the fancy skills and tools that paramedics have and ask them to just transport the patient, we are STILL making life & death decisions. Closest appropriate facility ring a bell? What is wrong with the State of California? I am not sure I would want to go work there if they cannot understand why EMS exists.
